Viewing Party Catering

June 16, 2015 - Catering a Party

Here at the Palo Alto Catering Company, we’re all TV and movie lovers. And now that the 58th San Francisco International Film Festival has concluded over at the Armory, the Castro Theater, and numerous other venues throughout the city and in the East Bay, we thought we’d share with you one of the most common misconception when it comes to catering.

We all know that going out on the town for some fine films from around the globe is a fun activity. But it’s not for every night. Driving all the way up to San Francisco for an international film festival? Maybe, but it would definitely be a special occasion. Heck, most of the time, I barely even want to go to the Menlo Park or Mountain View cinemas. Most of the time, those of us who love movies, television shows, or watching sports, can be a bit…how do I say this…lazy. No, not lazy; it’s just that, after a hard day’s work, there’s nothing quite like unwinding with your friends and family in front of the TV in the living room or basement. I think if most of us could get in a full season of our favorite show, or watch the big game, without moving an inch, we would. But then, what to do about the food? Nothing like some food, snacks, and drinks to complement our viewing experience.

This is where catering comes in. One of the greatest myths about catering is that it’s just for those huge occasions, like weddings, conferences, or anything else that involves over a hundred people. This is ridiculous! For your next Super Bowl party, movie marathon, or season premier of House of Cards, hire a caterer! Catering can fit a variety of needs, big or small, and a local catering establishment can provide you with the solutions for the next time you want friends and family over for a viewing party. Catering can come in handy especially if you and your buddies are sports fanatics. Nothing, except of course going to the stadium decked out in the jersey of your team, can make an authentic sports party for the fans like themed catering, which comes in many varieties.

The convenience and sheer effortlessness of catering will solve most, if not all, of your food concerns before the big game. Time after time I’ve been in the same situation with my buddies. Having snagged our spots on the couch, we’re all ready for the game or show. And then…hey, what is there to drink? I’m hungry – you got any snacks? If your kitchen and pantry are like mine, such questions may be cause for concern. I go to the grocery store to replenish my TV viewing supplies as often as I can. But, on those weeks that work’s got me staying late, the last thing in the world I want to do is go on a grocery run. Thus, slowly my supplies of snacks and drinks are drained away. Or I only have one type of beverage: milk. This nightmare situation minutes before the game forces us all to rush out to the store, bicker over which salsa to get, wait in line, and finally rush back home.

Now, the above events aren’t the worst thing in the world. If it’s a minor game. But what happens when it’s the Super Bowl, Game 7 in the NBA Playoffs, or a World Cup Final. For times like these, nothing beats the sheer comfort, convenience, and quality of catering.

Discount catering is an option that is especially well suited to the needs of a smaller gathering like a sports or TV viewing party. This way, all of your friends, family, and fellow fans will get all the food and drinks they can ask for, without you breaking the bank. Just think about it – nobody needs filet mignon or oysters for the NBA Playoffs. You only need to hire a caterer to meet the beer, chips, and salsa necessities, right? Okay, maybe you can spice it up a bit if you really want to impress your fellow viewers and fans.

Like discount catering, drop off catering is another great option for ensuring that all you have to do on the day of the event is enjoy the show. With this option, you’ll get as much snacks and beverages as you may need delivered straight to your front porch. Choosing to get your catering delivered ensures a worry-free experience, complete with all the silverware, plates, and other utensils necessary for effortless viewing and post-game cleanup. If you ordered something hot or warm, drop off catering also ensures that you’ll get your food at the right temperature, ready for you to chow down on. Another advantage of catering your viewing party is that, unlike those grocery store experiences I shared with you, catering can easily be custom-made for each person’s individual tastes and needs. In the past, whenever we opted out of rushing to the grocery store, our backup plan was always pizza, which got quite repetitive soon. Now, with drop off food from a catering company, we can get something new and different every time, and every single one of us is satiated.

Unlike what you may have heard, the aforementioned easy catering solutions are an easy and affordable way to enhance any Super Bowl celebration, movie marathon, or favorite TV show premier. Casual festivities like these, just like more formal occasions such as weddings, can benefit greatly from a little catering. Then again, for the real fans out there, there is nothing casual about such a party.
