The How’s and Why’s of Coffee Caterers and Why You Need Them For Your Event
June 22, 2016 - Catering TipsCoffee is more than just something you ingest to keep you awake through lazy mornings and boring work hours. It’s a way of life. For a lot of people living and working in Palo Alto, coffee is the lifeblood that keeps everything going.
This is the reason why coffee caterers seem to be popping up everywhere in the city- there’s such a high demand for it. Palo Alto hosts many conferences, professional meetups, and conventions yearly, and the attendees of these events are always in need for a cuppa joe to keep their energy levels up during the day.
If you’re still not convinced, here are a few more reasons why your event needs a coffee catering service:
For public exhibitions, conventions, and other similar events
The thing about exhibitions and conventions is that these are events which require their attendees to be on their feet for hours on end. By lunch time most of them would already feel tired, so you need a coffee caterer to keep them around for longer. There’s also the fact that having a coffee cart, as well as a barista to man it, is such a huge crowd-drawer. This works in favor of exhibitors and/or sellers as they can instantly gather a huge crowd without much effort and also gives them valuable talk time with which they can show off their exhibits or wares.
For business meetings and conferences
Conferences are the most common types of events where you can find coffee caterers. The reason for this is simple: conferences don’t want their delegates to wander off away from the conference venue just because they want good coffee. An easy way to avoid this situation is to hire coffee caterers so that you can bring the coffee to the delegates themselves and keep them inside the venue for longer. It’s also a great way to have the delegates mingle amongst themselves.
For gala dinners
Not everyone drink alcohol. Having a cup of good coffee or an espresso shot just after a fancy gala dinner might be what some people would go for.
And remember, coffee catering services are usually not limited to plain black coffee alone. The barista may also whip up hot chocolate, tea, chai, iced coffee drinks, and other specialty drinks as requested by those who hired their services.
The Airpot versus Coffee Cart Debate
The term “coffee catering” would usually conjure up images of an airpot, which are kind of glorified thermos jugs for coffee. And yes, airpots can provide a quick and easy coffee catering service to your guests without much trouble. You wouldn’t even need a barista to man it since guests can serve themselves. These are perfect for small, informal gatherings, or for private functions where using a full blown coffee cart wouldn’t be practical.
Coffee carts are good for professional events, conferences, meetings, and conventions where there’s a lot of people present. Airpots can only provide around 15-20 cups of coffee at the most, while a coffee cart can serve up to 100 cups. Since these carts are also manned by baristas, people can also request specialty drinks on the fly.
